Snow Taxi Health and Safety Policy

AXB Pty Ltd, trading as Snow Taxi (BSP V248938) aim to prioritise safe transport and provide a world best practice safe transport service for our drivers, passengers and other road users. Travel from all locations to and from Alpine Resorts involves the continuous improvement and evaluation of safe travel practices in hazardous alpine areas in snow, ice and blizzard conditions. 

 

Snow Taxi is a specialised service of AXB Pty Ltd (BSP V248938). Snow Taxi receives commercial passenger vehicle bookings via www.snowtaxi.au or by phone 03 9090-0003. Snow Taxi owns, operates and controls the Snow Taxi cars and booking system.

 

Hazardous Areas

Mount Buller

Snow Taxi provide a door-to-door Melbourne Metro and Melbourne Airport service to Mount Buller. Book transfers between Mount Buller, Mount Hotham and Falls Creek. 

Mount Hotham

Snow Taxi provide an all-locations service to Mount Hotham Alpine Resort, including Dinner Plain and Hotham Airport. Book transfers for Hotham Airport, Albury Airport and Tullamarine. 

Falls Creek

Snow Taxi provide an all-locations service to Falls Creek Resort. Book snow transfers from Albury Airport and Melbourne Airport. Resort transfers between Falls Creek and Mount Hotham are popular and take approximately two hours door-to-door.

Mount Buffalo 

Snow Taxi provide an all-locations service to Mount Buffalo. The Ski Resort and Chalet are closed. Snow Taxi bookings for snow play, tobogganing, cross country skiing and hiking are provided.

Snow Taxi Vehicle Policy

  1. Snow Taxi only provide registered commercial passenger vehicles for hire by online or phone booking only. Each booking is identified by a unique booking reference number and driver allocation is via the booking system to approved CPV drivers. Unbooked services will not be accepted;
  2. Snow Taxi vehicles are new and new model vehicles with 5 Star ANCAP Safety ratings;
  3. Snow Taxi vehicles can only be identified by a Snow Taxi sign or Snow Taxi vehicle decals;
  4. Snow Taxi vehicles have expert dealer braking system and mechanical servicing with road worthy inspection prior to the start of each snow season;
  5. Snow Taxi Four-Wheel Drive vehicles are fitted with approved all terrain tyres or snow tyres prior to the snow season;
  6. Snow Taxi rear wheel drive vehicles are fitted with new snow tyres prior to the snow season. In deep snow a low gear selection and rear differential lock provides the extra traction needed when snow chains are fitted;
  7. Snow Taxi vehicles carry 2 sets of approved KONIG diamond pattern snow chains and a chain repair kit. Speed is limited to a maximum 40 kmph when snow chains are fitted;
  8. Snow Taxi vehicles have Resort Entry Permits for the drop off of passengers within the Alpine Resorts during the designated snow season in Victoria;
  9. Snow Taxi vehicles carry a night lantern and high visibility vest for safe Chain fitting and removal;
  10. Snow Taxi vehicles carry a First-Aid Kit, Hand sanitiser and face masks. Please consider your driver and other passengers and postpone your travel if you are sick.
  11. Snow Taxi vehicles are cleaned between each booking to STV Covid clean regulations.
  12. Snow Taxi vehicles are tracked via a tracking app and driver booking allocations and tracking history are recorded.

Snow Taxi Driver Policy

  1. Snow Taxi drivers must be accredited commercial passenger vehicle drivers on a Safe Transport Victoria public register;
  2. Snow Taxi drivers must have a minimum five years prior alpine driving experience with five years of no alpine area motor vehicle claims or driver at fault accidents;
  3. Snow Taxi drivers must have completed the Snow driver and vehicle safety training and passed a hazardous area driver skills assessment;
  4. Snow Taxi drivers must comply with the CPVV Industry codes of practice;
  5. Snow Taxi drivers must comply with the Snow Taxi and AXB Pty Ltd Driver Agreements, including Fatigue Management and Clause 7: Mutual Obligation and Safety Statement;
  6. In winter, mountain pick up times are limited to the hours of 7:00AM to 6:00PM. Winter driving at night is hazardous with black ice not visible, no snow clearing, no traction control vehicles or advice on when to fit or remove snow chains. There is no immediate back up from staff or drivers. Finally, Deer, Kangaroos and Wombats on the road are a hazard.  

Snow Taxi Child Safety Restraints

Snow Taxi use award winning Mother’s Choice Brand Child Restraints.

Snow Taxi use of seats depends on the child’s age and size:

  • Rear facing Baby Seat from 0 to 12 months old.
  • Forward facing Child Seat from 1 to 4 years old.
  • Booster Seat for children from 4 to 7 years old.

Our guide depends on the age and size of the children.

Customer child seat orders are placed when booking at a cost of $11.00 per seat.

Customer’s are welcome to supply and fit their own child seats at no charge.

Drivers ensure seats are clean and are trained on proper fitting of the seats.

In vans, drivers ensure approved extension straps are used when required.

Snow Taxi Incident Report Register

Snow Taxi and AXB Pty Ltd have a perfect safety record, however, AXB Pty Ltd maintains a Safety Incidents Register and encourages near miss reporting. In the event of any safety incident or accident the event must be reported and recorded in the below register:
